A Novel Design of 10 Channel Demultiplexer Based on Ring Resonator in 2D Photonic Crystal

Abstract :
In this study, the design and simulation of a 10-channel demultiplexer based on ring resonant cavities and Maxwell equations in 2D photonic crystals with free spectral range of around FSR = 690 nm is presented. for provide a good transmission rate of the input waveguide to the resonant cavities, point and linear defects and appropriate radius of resonant cavities are used. A power reflector is used to reduce losses in the proposed structure, which is done by closing the input path of the reflector. The main act of the choosing the wavelength is performed by the resonant cavities. The quality factor is at best Q.f = 5206. The transmission power rate of the structure is between 70 % and 100 %. The least bandwidth of the output signal spectra is 0.3nm and the amount of crosstalk between the output channels is from -11 dB to -48 dB. The Overall dimensions of the proposed structure is 263.42 µm2. One of the important applications of the proposed demultiplexer structure is in WDM communication systems.
